New Britain Herald – New Britain resident, Goodwin University student chosen for business scholarship

NEW BRITAIN – New Britain resident Anel Smajlovis has received a $1,000 scholarship from the American Eagle Financial Credit Union.

American Eagle Financial Credit Union President and CEO Howard Brady said scholarship recipients are chosen by a committee at Goodwin University in East Hartford. Each year since 2013, the American Eagle Financial Credit Union Scholarship has awarded a deserving Goodwin student.

“We are very pleased to recognize Anel as our 2022 winner,” Brady said. “Using the criteria established by AEFCU, the committee identifies a student enrolled in Goodwin’s business program who has demonstrated outstanding academic merit and who would benefit from the financial aid attached to the scholarship. In Anel’s case, his GPA and determination to advance his education, career and family made him an easy selection.

Smajlovis is pursuing a degree in business administration.

“American Eagle is a valued community partner of Goodwin University and has a long history of supporting students like Anel,” said Goodwin University President Mark Scheinberg. “Not only does this scholarship bring Anel closer to his educational and professional goals, but the knowledge he has gained through the BA program will help strengthen his community as well as the economy of our entire region.”

Brady hopes this scholarship will help recipients earn their business degree and eventually fulfill their career aspirations.

“American Eagle has always been focused on mentoring and financially supporting students, both at the high school and college levels, who may one day become our local businesses and community leaders,” he said.
