TROY, Ala. (WDHN) – Troy University police have arrested the driver they believe was involved in a hit-and-run that injured a Troy University student on Monday.

Jaequawn Roberson, 19, of Troy, has been charged with a felony while leaving the scene of an accident.

On Monday, a Troy student was crossing a crosswalk on University Avenue when he was hit by a vehicle whose driver stopped, checked for damage to the car, then drove off, according to a University statement. of Troy.

The student, who suffered minor injuries, was treated and released from Troy Regional Medical Center.

Troy University Police Chief George Beaudry said several witnesses were able to give police a description of the car and that campus security cameras were used to track the vehicle and find any. photos that the police could use in the search.

Officers were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle in a parking lot at an apartment complex near campus on Tuesday morning, and the owner admitted to the crime when questioned by officers, according to Troy University.

Roberson was placed in the Pike County Jail on Tuesday.

The school states that Roberson is not affiliated with Troy University.
