University degree from Gulbarga, PG exams on August 2

Gulbarga University’s undergraduate and postgraduate exams, which have been postponed due to the second wave of COVID-19, will take place from August 2, the university’s vice-chancellor said on Tuesday. Dayanand Agsar.

Speaking to reporters in the administrative building at the university premises, Dr Agsar said exams will be conducted in accordance with guidelines from the University Fellowships Commission and the National Council for Higher Education. Up to 1.2 lakh of undergraduate students and 12,000 postgraduate students from various institutions affiliated with Gulbarga University in four districts will take the exams.

Exams will only be held for final semester students, while all middle semester students pursuing degree courses and after graduation will be promoted without an exam, due to the pandemic, Dr. Agsar.

Students in the first and third semesters will be promoted on the basis of an internal assessment and the performance of the previous semester. The exams will be organized for students of the sixth semester and students of the fourth semester.

The university will have a vacation from July 21 to August 31 and will complete the examination process for graduate students and postgraduate students. The results will be announced by August 15, he added.

Responding to a question, Dr Agsar said the university has announced the schedule for the B.Ed. No fewer than 9,200 B.Ed students from 52 institutions in four districts affiliated with the university will take exams at 26 examination centers from July 28.

B.Ed exams will also be conducted in accordance with UGC guidelines and standards. Almost 70% of students taking exams received their first dose of the vaccine. And, 90% of teachers also received their first dose of vaccine. Students who have not been vaccinated and those who have tested positive for COVID-19 will take exams in isolated rooms.

Dr Agsar said the university’s next academic year will begin on October 1.
